Rusty Hooks fishing club members Alan Norris, David Doolan and Collie Ennis had a great days fishing with Dick Hayes on his boat ‘The Enterprise’ out of Kilmore Quay,  Wexford on Friday.

The action came thick and fast from the get go with wrasse, pollack and over 40 cod averaging around the 2lb mark being taken on baited feathers and rubber eels on boom rigs.

Cod
A nice brace of cod for Collie Ennis

After a quick break at lunch time a turn in the tide and increasing winds forced the lads to fish just off the Salties which thankfully didn’t interrupt the steady flow of hard fighting fish being landed.

The anglers were delighted with what was in their words a “quality day all round!”.

Ray O’Keefe and a group of anglers had been out with Dick on the Enterprise the previous weekend and they had a fair days sport with pollack to 6lb, cod to 5lb and plenty of wrasse. On of the anglers thought he had the fish of a life time but was disappointed to find he had been playing a seal for the last 4 minutes. The  fish robbing seal surface about 20 yards from the boat with fish in mouth and he was determined not to let go but the line broke and off he went with his prize.

Go fishing…
