Following the hectic weekend on Lough Muckno, a few anglers ventured out today Wednesday 5th December for a pleasure session on the Lough. You could not have ordered a better day which was bright, clear and crisp with a light westerly breeze.  The water was clear after the recent severe frosts but temperatures were up on the weekends sub zero levels. However, this would have had no effect on water temperatures.

Feeder tactics were the order of the day with distances varying between 35 and 50 turns. Maggot and dark ground bait with caster were baits of choice. Considering the time of year the fishing was excellent with weights being returned from 2.2kgs to 7.5kgs. Catches consisted of mainly of hybrids and skimmers, with occasional bream roach and perch. Rory O’Neill had the heaviest bag of 7.5kgs and at one point during the day had 17 fish in a 15 minute period . Dick Caplice had 5.5kgs with some very nice hybrids in the catch. Dave Wursnip had 5kgs and Niall McKittrick had 4kgs.

Bites were good and deliberate and there seemed to be plenty of fish in the swims once the lads got them working.
