Despite the fact that water levels on Lough Muckno can only be described as being at the highest winter levels at the moment and that the strange weather and resulting water conditions have continued into mid August, Lough Muckno and surrounding waters continue to produce quality fishing. Dean Woodings from Monaghan fished on Monday morning in the Muckno area with a waggler rig and put together a nice net of fish consisting of quality roach, perch, skimmers and hybrids. Dean had perch to circa 1lb and although catching lots of small fish was hoping for one or two specimens before the end of his session. Dean was feeding over the top with a specialist mix of ground bait with lots of particle which  really got the fish going.

Anglers are advised that work continues apace on the angling access development which was commenced on Lough Muckno last week. As a result of the works, access is restricted in the areas being developed until the works are finished. The progress even since commencement has been great and we all look forward to the works being completed in the coming weeks. The upgrading of the tracks and  provision of parking bays will mean that anglers will be able to access up to circa 300 pegs and parking on the developed sections.
