Peadar O’Brien reports that the Carrickmacross Coarse and Junior Development Club had a pike match on Sunday the 2nd Dec on one of the local lakes in the Carrickmacross area. It was very cold and frosty, with temperatures of minus 1 in the car. The fishing was hard and only a few fish were caught on lures, a few were taken on the trusty sink and draw technique and of course a few missed as well. Peadar was under real pressure to catch a pike from the young lads who were there and he was very relieved when his float went under and he managed to land a lovely 16lb pike on a dead bait. 2nd in the event was James Delaney with a pike of 3lb and Lee Harris was 3rd with a pike of 1lb. All around it was a good day and everyone is looking forward to the next match. Peadar would like to thank all the club members who came out and supported the event.
