The Sheet of Water has been frozen over in large areas this week with a thick sheet of ice. The latest forecasts would suggest milder weather which should in turn provide good sport if the water heats up slightly.

The water is not particularly deep on this stretch of water and a floating or intermediate line is ideal. As usual the more successful flies include Goldheads and in particular flies with some ‘movement’ such as Woolly Buggers or flies with a gold head and palmered hackle.
A typical 5 weight river rod is perfectly adequate.

Anglers braving the cold should really take advantage of the lovely surroundings and great atmosphere in our golf club house where after a cold days fishing they can avail of full bar services and a selection of light snacks or more substantial meals from the menu there.

If you have any queries about fishing at Carton House please contact Guest Relations on 01.5052000 or me on 087 1947811.
