Michael Flanagan reports on the first Green Peter competition on Lough Lene…
Last Friday night up on fifty anglers thrashed the water with their flies out on Lene at the Larry Mulligan Cup. It was our first evening Peter competition, and was hard going. Quite a few flies were hatching but unfortunately the fish failed to take a shine to these wonderful insects.
On the night only three fish were weighed-in at the 11-15pm finish.
Brian Brennan from Durrow took Top rod with a trout of 1.34kg, 2nd was David Gallagher 1.16kg, and 3rd Peter Cunningham 1.08kg.
The Mulligan family from Collinstown were on hand for the presentation on Fagan’s Point, along with sponsor Colm Lynch of East Coast Angling.
Next evening competition is the Mick Healy Cup, and its taking place August 9th. More on this in the coming weeks.
