Colm Lynch from Navan Anglers Association reports that as expected he has had a number of fishing reports after the first weekend on the rivers and lakes with the opening of the Boyne, the Kells Blackwater and the local lakes alike. On the lake front plenty of lads ventured out to the various lakes all with produced good returns of rainbow and brown trout. Lough Lene in Collinstown, in particular fished well with fish up to 5lb taken on the fly. Among those with success on the day where Dougy Robinson, Colm Buccanan and John Baker. All had success stripping wets on an intermediate line. John Maguire from Summerhill also reported a good day on Lene on Friday last with numerous fish returned. The Boyne has had some hatches of olives in the late afternoons on the warmer days but little trout fishng is taking place at the moment. Further reports on hatches and catches will be posted as the information becomes available.
