The Garrison & Lough Melvin Anglers Association held their 34th Lough Melvin Open Trout Angling Championships over Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. This is a pairs competition with the first 3 days are qualifying days with the final being held on Sunday. Conditions were very good over the 4 days with nice winds, overcast skies and no rain. 290 rods fished the competition and 369 trout were recorded over the 4 days. The winners on Sunday were Brian Uprichard, from Waringstown & Cecil Marshall from Sligo with 4 fish caught. In 2nd place were Gerard Macseain from Cornafean & Thomas J. Carrol from Castlebar. In 3rd place came James Cook from Dungloe & Francis White from Collooney.
