Alice Murtagh reports from the Inland Fisheries Ireland office in Corlesmore near Arvagh on coarse fishing in the Cavan, Leitrim areas.

High water levels and low temperatures are causing problems for anglers this week with low weights being recorded.  25/30 lb. mixed catches of roach, hybrids and some bream are being caught in Killykeen, also similar weights on Dereskit at Glasshouse.  Tessie’s and Kevin’s Shore on Lough Gowna and Gulladoo are producing good weights for some anglers.

The annual Ballinamore Festival is currently underway with Haughtons and Connollys Shore providing best returns so far this week.

Pike angling remains generally good with good numbers of French and Belgium anglers using float tubes and fly.
