Bill Ryan is back in West Clare on his annual Wrasse fishing expedition. So far he has only managed to fish one day out of three due to a heavy swell which has been making any rock fishing extremely dangerous.
The one day lull allowed him to fish safely at the Bridges of Ross where the wrasse were plentiful with several over 4 lbs. The best of these weighed 4.65 lbs.
Crab fished on light tackle accounted for all the fish.
All were returned alive.
Bill hopes to get out again if conditions improve and maybe connect with the triggerfish which can be caught from marks in Clare from August to September.
