Bass angling expert Jim Hendrick had a few sessions over the Halloween weekend and decided to leave all his lures including his “super spooks” in the bag. Instead Jim called on his new double handed fly rod as his tackle of choice and headed out along the Wexford coastline to see if he could tempt a winter bass to the the fly. Not just any fly though.
Jim spends a lot of time working on fly designs with various tyers and then tests them exhaustively to see if they will bring success. His current creation tied by Andy Elliott @chasingsilver1 has obviously proved to contain the right combination of colour and movement and according to Jim can be credited with delivering several bass to 10lbs. The fish all fought exceptionally well and were carefully released back to the water to reproduce and provide future sport. Well done Jim on a great result!
