David Edwards, skipper of charter boat Tigger, reports:
Decided to take a few hours out on my own to focus on the fine cod that have shown here since Spring and I wasn’t disappointed. Having found a mark where they were feeding I caught a fish between 6 and 12 pound every drift. They were tight to the bottom and I found that a large pink muppet baited with fresh mackerel on a short trace and a 6/0 hook did the trick.
I also connected to several Pollack and ling with one large specimen making short work of my 60lb trace. The stiff south easterlies are once again limiting activity but I am hopeful that we will still get a number of trips out in October to target these fine fish

Go fishing…
Tigger is a purpose built Procharter 31 angling boat, powered by a 330HP diesel engine and equipped with all necessary safety equipment. Reef and ground drift fishing is generally the most productive method with the potential to catch in excess of 20 species if you adapt your lures and baits accordingly. From mid June through to October it’s usually possible to target the blue shark fishing that is predominatly between 10-15 miles off the estuary. All sharks are released and recent seasons have seen larger species such as mako and threshers being sighted more frequently, so who knows what will come in 2015…
