Pat O’Shea reports that there was a great start to the Light Lines competition in Cork Harbour at the weekend. Pat tells us that there was excellent fishing with some good stamp to the dabs, and whiting.

No plaice were reported but this didn’t knock Pat Condon off his stride. By all accounts he was was on fire! His win has already started speculation that he will emerge the eventual winner.

About the Light Lines…

There are good prizes on offer, courtesy of Shamrock Fishing Tackle and the Commodore Hotel, Cobh. (The league winner will win a fine 4.5m Artico Rod).

Rules are simple, its a fun comp. The scorecard will be the one used in the National Fish-Offs out of Cork Harbour over the last few years. Min fish size 18cm. Mainline max breaking strain 15lb. Rigs, snoods, and shockleader can be any strength. 3 hooks max. No limit on bait.

Book early to avoid disappointment. These comps are very popular and can book up fairly early. Make sure to get your entry in before the close off the Weds evening before the comp at 6pm.

Lines down at 9:30am. There will be one move during the day at 12:30pm. Everyone moves 2 spaces to the right (we’re trying to keep it as simple as possible). Fishing will resume at 12:45pm.

Lines up at 3:30pm. Prize giving and results in Commodore Hotel, Cobh at 5:30pm at the latest.
