IADA report on the news from Lough Muckno…
Alan Larkin, the top challenger to Johnny Mc Kinley on the final day of our Winter League, did what Alan Larkin does best, win again and pip the long time leader J Mc Kinley by a half point, 11 points to Johnny’s 11.5 pts.
The only other big mover on the final day was Piotr Horbinski who came from down the field, on one point today, to finish 4th on 14.5 points and was just edged out by the ever reliable and consistent Brenton Sweeney on 14pts. It took a weight count back to sort out 5th and 6th places that were also on the podium and by the narrowest of margins of just 200 grammes over 8 matches after which Neil Maz prevailed, from Finnian Feeney both on 15 points.
The venue it has to be said fished hard and fair all winter but is now awakening to the flurry of small fish on all sections, present in great numbers, making it a match mans dream.
The competitors today as in the two Easter festivals were well up to the task and winning weights of all the contenders were in the 4kg to 6kg bracket in yet again stormy weather conditions.
Congratulations to our winners all and to the top anglers who bravely and assiduously travelled from near and far, Dublin, Belfast and the deep West of Ireland.
