Ireland’s U18 and U23 Youth Internationals attended practise on the town stretch of the Newry Canal on Saturday.  The aim of the session was to practise catching small fish on the whip and 6m short line preparation for bleak fishing ahead of their attendance at the World Youth Angling Championships in Portugal this year.

The session produced lots of fish which were somewhat bigger than those caught this time last year, with up to 30 being caught in the 20min speed sessions. The teams now look forward to 3 more training sessions on Gaulmoylestown Lake fishing the pole and waggler for carp as preparation continues.

Some additional peg space will be available at the Gaulmoylestown sessions for junior anglers who are interested in coming along.  Contact the Youth Tem Manager Jack Tisdall for details 00 44 7813 333694
