This traditional angling championship between England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales was reinstated in 2015 to offer the home nations’ rising stars the opportunity to fish alongside international team members. An innovative format to allow more anglers the opportunity to fish at this level producing teams that provide a combination of youth and experience.
2015 saw Ireland as the first hosts with anglers enjoying super catches on the Newry Canal. This October England are the hosts and the match will take place on the River Severn, England.
Incoming International Team Manager Vincent Walsh has extended the application for those interested in fishing on the team inviting NCFFI members and affiliates to apply for selection to form Team Ireland. The team of 7 may consist of a maximum of 3 international anglers and must include 2 under 25’s.
Venue: Shrewsbury Town Waters, River Severn
Dates: Training 26/27 October
Match Days 28/29 October
In accordance with NCFFI protocol the Team Manager is authorised to select his team from these applicants based on his assessment. If more than 30 applications are received the Team Manager will organise two qualifiers (no entry fee required) to look at all those anglers who apply
FIPSed Fédération Internationale de la Pêche Sportive en Eau Douce regulations allow the inclusion of one foreign national on the International team and all other members must hold an Irish or UK/NI passport. The application fee of €40 will contribute to the travelling teams costs. Closing date for applications is 8th September 2016.
