Ronan Cusack reports that Carra might not be giving up its fish easily but that these trout are worth putting in an effort for…
Joe Flannelly of Keel River Lodge reported that fishing on Lough Carra is slow at the moment, yet the quality of fish that are coming of the Lough are really good. For those anglers who are willing to persevere, good trout are to be had. The main flies that are working are Green Peter, Claret Bumble, Sedge and an Alexander on the point always works well at this time of year.
The photo shows a beautiful Cara trout weighing just under 3 pounds caught on the 13th of August by Noelle Nicholson from Kildimo in Limerick. Also pictured is David Hayes. Noelle is not new to fishing on the Carra, and has been landing trout like this since she was a child. It’s great to see young anglers like Noelle and David participating in the sport of fishing.
