There was great fishing on the mighty River Shannon at Portumna at the weekend. Portumna Coarse Angling Club had a competition where a fine stamp of fish was landed, very good for this time of year. The event used 2 stretches, Town and Stick Ups with Stick Ups providing the better fishing.
- 1st Nigel Houldsworth – 18lb 15oz
- 2nd Bruce Pennell – 14lb 10oz
- 3rd Rory Dunne – 14lb 8oz
The Portumna town stretch is soon to one the of the best match lengths on the river Shannon. The club are working with Inland Fisheries Ireland to provide up to 30 platforms in a row.
