Monday 19th  to Sunday 25th August 2019.

Another wet week and plenty of good water levels. In fact, too high at times! There were good floods on Monday (0.38m), Tuesday (0.30m), Wednesday (0.53m), Thursday (0.32m) and Friday (0.30m). Thereafter the dry weekend saw the river drop quite quickly from mid Friday onwards and the gauge read 0.16m by the end of play on Sunday. The gauge average for the week was high reading 0.31 metres. The fishery was reasonably busy with 23 visiting rods fishing over the weekdays and 1 rod on Saturday. There were decent numbers of salmon caught too.

On Monday Davy Sullivan caught & released 3 salmon weighing 5, 6 & 13lb on a spinner from beats 7 & 8 and Brian Smith caught & released a 4lb grilse on fly from beat 5. On Tuesday, Davy Arbuckle caught & released a 7lb salmon on fly from beat 8. On Wednesday, Gary Todd caught & released a 5lb grilse on fly from beat 7 and Davy Sullivan caught & released 2 grilse weighing 5 & 6lb on spinner from beats 6 & 9. On Thursday, Davy Sullivan caught & released a 6lb grilse on spinner from beat 8. Alan Watson caught & released 2 grilse weighing 3½ & 5lb on fly from beat 8 and Peter Johnson caught & released 2 grilse weighing 5 & 7lb on fly from beat 5. On Friday, Bill Murray caught & released a 5lb grilse on fly from beat 5. A fitting way to celebrate his Birthday.

The forecast is for rain again this week but much less than last week so there should be some fair floods over the coming week. J
