River Blackwater
The Blackwater is fishing well with some nice grilse in the system now. IFI staff have encountered a lot more fishermen along the system although above Mallow the fishing is reported as somewhat slow but fish are moving. A lot of fish were observed above Lismore Bridge also last weekend and the signs are encouraging. Water levels are still quite low so some rain would be welcome.
Blackwater Salmon Fishery reported six fish caught from their beats on Monday 22nd; one very special fish was caught by one very special angler – seven year old Will catching his very first fish. Over at Fortwilliam, seven fish were reported caught on Wednesday 24th and with the water levels rising by 10cm or so overnight the prospects are looking good for the river over the weekend.
