On Sunday 8th, regular visitor Jean-Francoise Calvar fished the Birch pool and Cattle pass on Beat 1 and had 2 salmon of 2.5lbs. and 5.2lbs. using the ”little black fly” as he calls it himself. Monday 9th Luke Drea and John Wilding also fished Beat 1 and released a grilse each of 3.5lbs. and 4lbs. from the Black river run using a Silver Stoat and Stoat’s Tail in size 12. On Thursday 12th, Paddy Donegan had 2 grilse of 5.5lbs. and 6lbs. from Beat 6 on a Conehead tube fly and Jean-Pierre Leroy released 2 wild salmon of 4lbs. and 10lbs. from Beat 7 on the ”little black fly”.

Fishing has been very good over the past 10 days helped by regular rainfall to keep the river topped up at a good fishing height. Prospects look good for the final few weeks of the season if anglers are thinking of wetting a line before the end of September.
