Joe Fitzharris reports from Lough O’Flynn

Lake O’Flynn & District Angling Association recently hosted the “Michael Malone Perpetual Cup” with the “Colm Malone Cup”, and the “Malone Junior Cup” also presented on the day in an event that was well supported and fished in what could be described as good angling conditions.  A total of thirty-two anglers competed hoping to win the main prize, The Michael Malone Cup plus 300 Euro. Fishing was tough going on the day but was made up for by the warm and friendly atmosphere evident on the day. Fish were caught on a variety of fly patterns with Dabblers, Sedges   & Daddies most successful on the day.

Results were as follows:

Heaviest Fish: 1st Anthony Doyle (2-lb 07.8 oz)  Michael Malone Cup winner; 2nd Joe Fitzharris (2-lb 01.6 oz); joint 3rd Declan Donlon & Derek Madden (2-lb 00.4 oz)

Heaviest Boat Catch: 1st Joe Fitzharris & Mike Tiernan  Colm Malone Cup winners; 2nd Declan Donlon & John Finn; 3rd Ronan Baggott & Daniel McDermott.

Junior Malone Cup winner: Jamie Doyle (1-lb 03.8 oz)
