The fifth round of the Erne Anglers Winter League was held in excellent conditions on a high and fast flowing River Erne over the weekend. This round saw forty dedicated match men take to the riverbank for a match that fished extremely well, with lots of small fish showing throughout the river. So good was the fishing that over 5kgs was required to win on all but one section.
Winner of match 5 was Johnny McKinley on peg 18 at Bellanaleck Middle winning the first prize with 7.875Kgs.
Runner Up was Eddie Griskaitis on peg 6 with 7.400Kgs at Bellanaleck Marina while Antony Sparrow (on Bellanaleck Marina) and Simon Huthwaite on (Derrychara Low) had 7.125Kgs each.
Other Section winners were Rodney Topping on the Ring, Paul Boothby on Bellanaleck low, Paul Eyres on Derrychara High and Jeff Margetts on QE Road.
Next match will be in two weeks on December 15th, the final match before the winter break.
