Unseasonable but much welcome December tench

Tench aren’t known for feeding hard in December, but when conditions are mild overall throughout the autumn – keeping water temperatures higher than the norm – there is always the chance of one…

That was the case for the CM Lakelands Club open match on Sunday, fished on Haughtons shore, Lough Garadice, as Robertas Zilatis finished in first with a very impressive weight of 6.330kg which included a 4lb December tench. Robertas also had a couple of big skimmers along with small hybrids and roach.

2nd overall was Nick Richards with a weight of 3.775kg, Nick caught most of his fish at distance and had a mixed bag of skimmers, roach and hybrids.

3rd Overall was Brenton Sweeney with 2.550kg of mainly small roach caught at distance as well.
