Glenmore fishery manager Jarlath Winters reports a reasonable start to the season, with some nice spring fish caught over the last few weeks.

 

On March 6th Emmet Browne kicked off the season with a 5lbs fish off Glenmore Pool. It was another 2 weeks before the next fish on the 20th – Shane Mc Eleney landed a 9lbs springer off Ivy Bridge. On the 23rd Barry Loughrey had a 6lbs fish at Liscooley Bridge, the first off the Finn Angling Club beat. On the 30th Barry Loughrey scored again on the Finn Anglers water at Liscooley Bridge.

On April 1st Alan Moorehead had a 10lbs spring fish on the Ballybofey/Stranorlar water. On the 5th Marty Mc Elroy caught a 7lbs fish at Kees, and the following day Warren Campbell landed a fine 10lbs fish from the Grilse Stream.

Brendan Garland was next on the 8th, with an 8lbs fish from the Glebe. 3 days later Johnny Doherty landed a 10lbs fish from the Grilse Stream. Bob Ladner caught an 8lbs salmon at the Graveyard Pool on the  12th.

The same day Matthew Henry had a fine 10lbs fish off McGintys, and Johnny Doherty had a lovely 12lbs fish at the Footbridge.

On the 14th Phil Mailey landed a brace – an 8lbs fish at McGintys and a fine 12-pounder at Glenmore Bridge.

On the 16th Jarlath Winters had a 6lbs fish from Leonard’s while Chris Adams landed an 8.5lbs fish from McGintys. Finally on the 18th Jarlath had a 9lbs fish from Leonard’s.
