A colleague of ours was walking the Dodder at the weekend and came across a young man who had just landed a lovely trout. Archie McCauley caught his fish just upstream of the City Weir at Firhouse and was delighted with himself.

We love seeing junior anglers catching their first fish, and have no doubt Archie will not quickly forget his. Hopefully a name and face we see plenty more of in our angling reports! Archie may not realise it yet, but the trout was probably not the only one hooked on Sunday…
Well done Archie!
The Dodder Anglers will be holding their annual Eddie Edmonds Cup this Saturday, May 11th from 11am to 4pm. The competition is strictly fly only and competitors will meet and register at the Dropping Well car park in Milltown. It will be run on a catch – photo – release basis and it is open to adults and juveniles. Membership cards will be available on the day, so that anybody interested in taking part can turn up on the day and become a member of the club (€5 Juveniles/€10 adults); entry to the competition costs only €5 per person.
Go Fishing
Anyone wanting to fish the Dodder should join the club (https://www.facebook.com/dodder.anglers/), it costs an adult €10 for the whole season and €5 for juveniles. Members also have access to the Bohernabreena reservoirs (fly fishing only in the reservoirs) – you wouldn’t get that kind of value anywhere. Membership cards can be purchased through all of the Dublin tackle shops.
