The first qualifier for the VDE Irish Canal Masters was held on the Grand Canal last Sunday in unseasonably sunny weather. With the bright conditions, the fishing was always going to be somewhat tricky, but the competitors were delighted to see a few bream turning up. And it was those bream that swung the balance as Nicky Harrison bagged four of them on his way to a win with a level 9lb. The next qualifier will be held at Enfield on May 3rd.
