Peter Driver of Piscari Fly is back with his weekly roundup of the fishing scene
How’s The Fishing?
River Nore

Peter was out on the River Nore over the last few days doing a bit of coaching, fishing and guiding. With the change in weather, back to cold wet weather fishing is being very tough indeed. We are really not seeing any great hatches during the day and very little feeding fish throughout the day too. There is a very strong breeze on the river, very cold and really affecting the fish. Over the couple of days the lads managed to get a couple of fish nothing massive, nothing really to write home about. Water levels are still pretty good hopefully this bit of rain will flush it out a bit and if we can get back into nice decent weather then afterwards who knows maybe we will have a good summer of fishing. But right now at the moment it is pretty tough going.
Avonmore River
Mark, Jamie and a few of the lads did a pre assessment of the Avonmore there over the weekend. The avonmore looks in stunning condition as always and the All Ireland Fly fishing championships will be held on the Avonmore in August. The lads were looking at access and beat venues. Jamie picked up a couple of nice trout on his travels up over the river there as well. River looks as awesome as usual. If you have never fished this river, it should definitely be on your bucket list. Check out Rathdrum Trout Anglers and get yourself a day ticket and enjoy the beautiful scenery of County Wicklow. Really looking forward to the All Ireland up there in August, its always a great venue, challenging but if you put the work in like anywhere it can be quite rewarding.
World Championships in the Czech Republic

The World Championships started Monday. Team Ireland are out there competing against 30 other teams. Seems to be a tough start for the lads, these things can happen in large complicted competitions. If you don’t get the start it can make it very difficult. However 5 days of competitions to go so hopefully the lads can push themselves up the table a bit. So we will keep an eye out. This is the website for up to date information https://ffch.cz/wffch2025en/ or check out the Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/worldflyfishingchampionship2014

The best of luck to the lads and we wish them all the best in the rest of the competition.
The Road to Italy

The Road to Italy has now been added to Piscari-Fly Club. Firstly Congratulations to Mark Driver on being nominated as Captain of the Irish Team going to the European Championships in Italy later this year. Peter and Mark will both be on the team. Peter as a competing angler and Mark as captain. Up on Piscari-Fly Club there will be videos starting this weekend with weekly updates on preparation, how we train. Lots of flytying for patterns we will use out there. How we break down our gear and set ourselves up. We will be doing a practice trip to the venues in August and this will all be videoed and documented on the Club so if you want to follow this whole journey make sure you log onto the Club at https://club.piscari-fly.com/ and follow Peter and Mark on this journey to the European Fly fishing Championships in Italy in October of this year.
