Moy Catchment Angling Report – Week ending 25-05-2025
Water levels remain low in the River Moy with levels at Ballylahan showing a very slight rise from 0.20 m on Sunday 18th up to 0.26m by noon on Sunday, 25th May. Weather-wise wise the past week has had rainfall levels well below average overall. The coming week will be more unsettled with frontal systems moving in from the Atlantic with amounts of 30mm – 60mm currently forecast.
Angling remained suspended on all Moy Fishery beats throughout the whole week due to elevated water temperatures. Thankfully angling resumed on Monday morning 26th May when water temperatures returned to an appropriate level. Ballina Salmon Anglers Association also suspended angling on their waters for the week due to the elevated water temperatures. IFI will continue to monitor water temperatures in the state-owned fisheries in the Moy catchment.
Angling pressure continues to remain low in the Moy catchment because of the current conditions, and this is again reflected in the catch returns for this week.
