A
fantastic turnout of 66 anglers lined the banks of the Grand Canal in Daingean for the annual Frank Holding Memorial Match. This year marked the 10th anniversary of Frank’s passing, and it was great to see so many anglers come together to honour his memory.
Conditions looked promising, with good water levels, plenty of colour, and lots of fish-holding features. However, despite signs of fish activity throughout the section, the fish proved reluctant to feed, making for a challenging day’s fishing.
Catches consisted mainly of small roach, rudd, and perch, with the occasional bonus tench and skimmer. To round off the day, anglers were treated to torrential rain during the weigh-in, making the collection of results a challenge in itself!
Tough fishing aside, the event was another fitting tribute to Frank and a great gathering of anglers from across the region.
