There were 4 boats on the water on Sunday to accommodate the anglers in the Cork Harbour Winter League. Overall 34 anglers fished on the Wreckhunter, Naomh Carta, Lagosta and Deora De. Between them the anglers landed an average of 65 fish each in this busy day on the water. the majority of the fish were whiting and dabs, but there were dogfish, poorcod, gurnads and codling to add some variety.

pollack
Pollack were the mainstay of th catch – well fattened fish

With a change in the weather forecast Jim Clohessey made a break for it in his trusty rubber duck. Fishing his favourite soft plastics he had some good pollack and though he had good cod he reports they are not “in” yet and were few and far between. Martyn Rainer reports good numbers of 8 inch codling in one session, hoefully a sign the next wave of bigger fish isn’t too far off.

cod
Not many cod about, but Jim was happy with this one.
