Emy and District Anglers PRO Enda Fields reports this week that this year’s Eugene Mulligan Memorial Cup Competition will take place at Emy Lake, Emyvale, Co. Monaghan on July 15th 2012. Fishing will be from the shore only and please note all anglers should check in at club jetty car park from 2pm. Plenty of prizes will be up for grabs.
Last years winner Sean Mc Kenna will be hoping to retain the cup. He is the early bookies favourite but there are a few locals ready to claim top prize!! The recent wet weather has seen only a couple of anglers venture out and fishing has been generally quiet, however, it is hoped that conditions will improve over the coming weekend. The club plan to stock more good sized brown trout into the lake in the next 2 weeks so all going to plan this should bring the trout back up to the surface to feed. It is hoped that this will result in further success for anglers and more fantastic fishing as was had many anglers since the start of March.
The club are asking all members to please practice CATCH & RELEASE . This is in the best interests for the lake and the club recommends all anglers If taking fish to please limit to 1 or maximum 2 PER WEEK.All anglers are advised if booking a boat do so early and not to leave it to the last minute as presently, due to high water levels, demand is out-stripping supply.
