Eddie Long PRO of the Naas and District Anglers reports that the 3rd round of their winter league took place on Sunday 11th January on the Barrow in Ardree/Athy. The weather was good, overcast with a slight breeze and very little rain but there was quite a fast flow on the river which didn’t make things easy for us. Everyone caught fish but unfortunately there weren’t many big nets of fish.
Section 1 joint winners were Andrius Simbelis and Fergal Scullier with 8lbs.
Section 2 winner was Deividas Noreika with 13lbs and second in section was Kevin Hodson with 6lb 10oz.
Section 3 winner was Chris Moore with 6lb 2oz and second in section was Marius Matuiza with 5lb 1oz.
Section 4 winner was Paul McLoughlin with 18lb 9oz and second in section was Owen Lynch 10lb 9oz.
Deividas Noreika twice hooked a small salmon and managed to net it on the second occasion, well done mate. Devidas is the bookies favourite in the league at present but its all to play for so watch your back chief!!! That’s the third salmon that NADA members have caught in the last two weeks and I might add all were returned safely to the river.
As usual with our league matches the craic was great but unfortunately the conditions (weather/water levels) in the last few matches has been against us. Hopefully in round 4 the weather will be with us and we’ll find the fish in good numbers. Tight Lines and we’ll see you all on the bank soon.
P.R.O.
Eddie Long
