Tom Collins of seaanglingcharters.ie in Union Hall West Cork reports that they have been making the most of the breaks in the weather to get out and enjoy the fishing.
Yesterday evening Brian Colbert’s had a fantastic 196lb common skate. The day before there was no shortage of good cod to 8.5lb. Last week a group of Welsh anglers fishing with Tom enjoyed similar catches.
Meanwhile two boat in the Irish Deep Sea Charter fleet, Boy Scott and Rod’n’Reel have had some good fish recently including blue sharks, ling, and pollack. They are offering short mackerel trips at the moment and there are plenty of these and herring to be had.
Over at Courtmacsherry Mark Gannon tells us that the highlight for Friday was some good conger to 15kg. On Saturday they had a mix of blue shark, cod, ling, pollack and plenty of mackerel. His anglers were delighted to see the fishing returning to normal after the recent bad spell of weather.
Unfortunately the settled conditions didn’t last and by Monday it was back to tough conditions, but his anglers continued catching some nice fish.
