We received a report that last weeks event was the 4th outing of the year for the Dublin based Blackrock SAC. The south beach in Arklow Town was the venue selected by the committee at the meeting on Thursday night. Fishing times were 5pm – 10pm giving anglers roughly 2hrs fishing on the rising tide and 3 hrs on the ebb. No pegs were needed at this one, as the club runs 6 pegged and 6 rover matchs within there leauge format.

As the anglers arrived at the car park a good few headed for the concrete slip in the middle of the beach as this is a favourite spot that can produce a good bag of fish. Rory McDowell, Des Daly, Liam Rice where among the anglers at the concrete slip .

Eugene Andrews’ fancied area was left of the main entrance and back towards the pier and he was joined by Tony Holmes, Jimmy Farrell and Wayne Ryan. As the match started, small whiting were the target with a lot of undersized fish showing to anglers. Best after first hour was Eugene Andrews with 8 counting whiting. Reports from further down beach showed bags of 3 to 6 fish with small undersized fish showing too. A steady run of whiting at distance on clip down rigs saw Eugene Andrews pick up more whiting at distance with Tony Holmes close with 20 fish. Further down beach it was bags of 15/20 fish. As it got dark it was down to counting fish and Jimmy Farrell and Wayne Ryan were fishing well to catch up on Eugene and Tony.
