Stuart Thompson reports on the Carrigallen Festival…

This year saw a full entry of 50 anglers fishing. Weather conditions were wildly variable with sunshine, gales and deluges often occurring on the same day. Water levels were very high and limited the number of lakes that could be selected from for use in the Festival.

The 5 venues used were Church Shore and Connollys on Garadice, Gulladoo Cross, Rockfield Lake and Tully Lake. All fished well for the conditions, although Rockfield was slow at times. Small Roach were present in numbers at all lakes with Garadice, Rockfield and Tully also producing catches of Skimmers, Hybrids and the occasional Bream.

Best weight of the week was Mick Smiths 16.96 kg of Skimmers and Bream from Tully. The total weight of Fish caught over the 5 days was 910.926kg, an average of 18.22kg per angler.
