Alice Murtagh reports from our Corlesmore office in Cavan:

Things are very quiet and water is still very low in places but there are still some anglers around. Killykeen and Killygowan are giving good mixed bags of fish especially at night or early morning. Good Tench fishing at the moment at Sally Lake too.

Some English anglers who fished at Bairds shore reported some nice Bream up to 5lbs. Anglers in the Arva/Gowna area report good catches with good Bream, Tench, Hybrids, Skimmers and plenty of Roach.

Below is a photo which dates back to August 1958 some sixty years ago. Ray Cook – a pioneer of Irish coarse fishing in the post WWII years – with a nice Bream of 5lb 12 ozs. Ray was a guest of Mrs Curran, Laurel Dale House, Lough Gowna.
