The Royal Canal is very low, and coarse fish are confined to any deep stretches, of water. Some anglers have being checked by I.F.I. Officers regarding bag limits, and also home made Crayfish traps were removed from the Brosna River. Some of the fish targeted by anglers on the Canal are perch, and roach, and the daily bag limit for these fish is 4 per angler, measuring 25cm. Plus some illegal fishing was taking place on the Brosna River, wit Crayfish being t fished with homemade nets. I.F.I. Officers are keeping a close eye on illegal angling and will be out & about in the coming weeks checking the waterways.
