Bill Cassidy, Connacht Match Group, reports on the Ballyforan 3 Day Angling Festival…

Connacht Match Group held a 3-day festival on the famous bends at Ballyforan last weekend. We named it the Ballyforan 3 Day Angling Festival. We decided to call it the Ballyforan Festival as we expect to do this again next year and would hope that it will be continued as an annual event.

festival catch

Fishing was very good with bream showing up on most pegs. This is a great sign as bream have not been caught on this stretch for a few years. The overall winner was Ian Kelsey with a total weight of 54lb 4oz.

Top Three

  • Ian Kelsey – 54lb 4oz
  • Ben Gingell – 47lb 14oz

This festival has great potential for angling tourism and it is hoped to attract more anglers from all parts of Ireland and the UK.

Next 3-day festival will be Easter weekend.
