This weekend will see the first round of qualifiers take place for selection of the team to represent Ireland at the World Championships in Portugal this April. This is a chance for Ireland’s growing number of lure anglers to qualify for a place on Team Ireland. Fishing for trout with lures and practising full catch & release, the participating anglers are awarded points for each fish caught over 8 x 45 minute sessions over two weekends. With limited tackle required its also good competition on the bank.
The competition takes place on the fast running River Cusher in County Armagh, Northern Ireland where wild brown trout are the target species. If you are interested in taking part visit www.ncffi.ie/predator/shore20 for rules and eligibility.
The National Coarse Fishing Federation of Ireland, NCFFI is the National Governing Body for coarse and predator fishing and casting sport as recognised by Sport Ireland and Sport NI presenting Team Ireland on the world stage across a number of disciplines. www.ncffi.ie
