About Sharks le Chéile
Sharks le Chéile are a small team of researchers, headquartered at Trinity College Dublin and collaborating institutions around Ireland. They work in partnership with government agencies, including the Marine Insitute, Foras na Mara, and Inland Fisheries Ireland, Iascach Intíre Éireann. However, they are an independent group of researchers, and are not governed by any state agency.
The core aim of their work is to bring science to the public and vice versa. Whether that’s highlighting new research on these enigmatic animals, promoting sustainable ecotourism, involving divers, anglers and the wider public in research as citizen scientists, or ensuring public stakeholder’s voices are heard by scientists and government agencies.
