im Keeshan produced a standout performance to win the 2026 Ian Rowand Trophy on Lough Owel, landing both the winning bag and the heaviest fish of the season so far.

Conditions were excellent on the day, and while there was limited fly life visible, the fishing still produced some memorable results. Eighteen anglers took part, with a total of 10 fish weighed in. The best of the day was Keeshan’s magnificent brown trout of just over six and a half pounds, comfortably putting him at the top of the heaviest fish standings for the season.

Tom Hipwell reported that wet flies appeared to account for the better fish, while the bung also proved effective for some anglers. Cathal McDonnell finished in second place, with Paul Delaney taking third. Alan Doherty and Tony McGrattan shared the special weight prize.

The result also had an impact on the Angler of the Year standings, with Cathal McDonnell extending his lead over Tom Hipwell and Alan Doherty. The organisers thanked Tom and the team for their work in running the competition. A full report and more photos can be viewed on the Dublin Trout Anglers Webpage.
