    Mount Dalton Lake

This small lake of 20 acres (9 hectares) is situated on the grounds of Mount Dalton. Access is from a private avenue to Mount Dalton House, to the left of the Mullingar – Ballymahon Road, just beyond the village of Rathconrath.

Mount Dalton holds brown trout that are stocked as fingerlings and grow naturally on the rich feeding the lake provides. Fish average  1.5lbs – 3lbs. This is a water that is nearly always worth a visit. It has hatches of Lake Olives, sedges and chironomids and a lot of terrestrial insects get blown onto the water in the course of the season.
