Lough Muckno covers circa 325 hectares and although it is currently hosting two sections for the World Pairs Championships and undergoing an extensive angling access development programme there is still room for pleasure angling at this great venue. Visiting this week from the UK was Stuart Burdekin from Leeds who spent 5 hours pole fishing at South Lodge on Monday. Stuart fished between 11am and 4pm and netted 40kgs plus of quality roach. He stopped fishing at 4pm only because he ran out of bait! The following day Stuart visited Church Shore and again had some great catches. Having carried out a very successful scouting mission, Stuart will be returning in October to fish again on Muckno.

Also visiting Muckno during the week were  Shay O’Donnell from Navan and Brian O’Raw from Tallaght. The lads spent a few hours at South Lodge on Tuesday and had some very nice fishing for roach and skimmers. The lads were on feeder and bites were far from shy. With a little assistance from Dick Caplice of IADA the lads had some nice sport.
