Conditions were fair on Melvin last week although air temperatures remained cold. The huge hatch of buzzers continued, but disappointingly, the trout did not seem to respond and fishing for the same was poor overall. The Ulster Championships were held on Saturday and of the 68 anglers fishing, 42 returned no catch (of trout that measured)! Tony Hogg won the competition with James Doherty placed second. The team event was won by the Garrison Anglers team.
