Lough Conn and Lough Cullin

The annual competition between the Dublin Trout Anglers Association and Lough Conn and Cullin Anglers was fished over the May bank holiday weekend on the lakes.

Saturday was a catch and release only event using a points system with Dublin winning this one with a total of 36 trout, with Lough Conn and Cullin anglers coming second.

On Sunday 5th May both clubs were fishing for “The Pratt Cup” with a 13-inch limit in place.  P.J O’Driscoll from the Dublin Trout Anglers Association came out as the winner of this one with two trout weighing a total of 1.33 kg. Paul Delaney came a close second also with two trout weighing a total of 1.1kg giving the Dublin anglers a clean sweep for this year. Third place went to Joe Ferguson with one fish.  He fished Lough Cullin with his son Cian who also boated a keeper and deservedly won a special junior competitor prize.

The best of the fishing was on the Saturday with a consistent light wind and some fly activity offering the assembled anglers many chances.
