Hamish Currie is just back after a long day with a group from the Netherlands as this was the first trip for a while when we were able to venture to the porbeagle grounds…
When we got there things were very slow to start with nothing for the first 2 hours. After that I spotted one on the surface coming towards the boat but it was not a bit interested in taking any bait at all.
Then another one came from under the boat and again not interested so a change of tactics was required. After a couple of hours trolling we finished up boating 3 of them, not monsters by any standards, but porbeagles all the same. A quick snap, tagged and released. I’ll try my other grounds in the coming weeks and see if any bigger ones are about.
