Arnold Donnelly from IFI-Limerick reports that the annual Lanesborough Pike Anglers children’s competition took place on Saturday 8th August 2015. Twelve children took part in this event. IFI staff cut the heavily weeded section during the week, and conditions were perfect on the day. The event was a success with all children catching large quantities of coarse fish (perch, rudd and roach).

Trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places were awarded and medals and fishing tackle were presented to all participants. All entrants were given 1 on 1 instruction throughout the day. Some of the entrants were new to angling, and all caught fish.

1st Prize went to Adam from Kilteevan who was only on his second fishing trip. 2nd Prize went to Tom and 3rd Prize went to local angler Elizabeth Clyne.

Well done to Noel, Brian, Eithne and Gerry and the club who give their own time to help children to fish.
