Cashel Trout Fishery report by Marlene Mc Laughlin:
Outstanding weather leads to outstanding catches for some anglers at Cashel. Eddie Manthorpe and Peter Clark (Coleraine and Portstewart) released seven trout each which fell to klinkhammers and bloodworms. Danny Walker and Jim Russell (Monkstown and Newtownabbey) bagged two each for home weighing a total of 10lb 8ozs. These anglers were using peter ross wet fly and the kate mclaren. Donegal’s Shaun O’Doherty released eight which took wee buzzers and dries.
The Kelly family from Derry hooked eight in total which fell to damsel nymph and the black and green lure. Derry’s Aidy Askin released six which took the pheasant tail nymph and small buzzers. Andrew Logan (Dungiven) also released six while Derry’s Danny McDonagh, Seamus Cusack and Saoirse Doherty hooked six in total but unfortunately lost one of the trout. Limavady’s Ken Foster and Sean Cottle struggled to make a trout each while Dungiven’s John Hasson and Martin Bradley released eleven and four respectively.
