Brenton Sweeney, Team Manager says:-There is just one change to the 2016 squad as I shall be taking forward five members of the 2015 team and a new angler which I hope will see us put in a strong performance in Serbia this year. I am delighted to welcome to the team Michael Buchwalder, a regular in Ireland whose angling capabilities we have seen on the Irish match scene and subsequently on our assessment day. Michael’s Irish parentage qualifies him and we welcome his decision to fish for Ireland. I’m pleased that current team member Richard Pratt a member of the silver medal winning squad and section winner in 2014 will remain on the panel and support the team.
I was very impressed with the high standard of feeder fishing from the anglers representing clubs from across the country at the recent assessment day. In order to coach these anglers for the future I have formed the following panel who will support the squad at the championships, at home in practise, and other events further developing their skills.
The Panel;
Dara Finnegan, Ballyhaunis Angling Club
Shamie Winters, Ballybay angling association
Steven Whyte, Carrickmacross AC
Graeme Gannon, Ballybay angling association
Rimantas Kondrackas, Go & Catch Feeder Fishing Team
Johnny McKinley, Lurgan Coarse Angling Club
Richard Pratt, Gowna AC
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors, Garbolino UK, Sensas Ireland and Irish Bait and Tackle Limited along with the NCFFI for their continued support.
